Risen Church is looking to hire a Children’s Ministry Summer Intern for Summer 2026!

Responsible For: Children’s Ministry

Main Ministry:
The Children’s Ministry Summer Intern will serve as a spiritual leader and support within the Children’s Ministry (CM), helping create a Christ-centered, engaging, and safe environment where children can grow in their faith. This role combines hands-on ministry experience, leadership development, and personal spiritual growth.
Ministry Focus:
The intern will focus on three key areas:
• Spiritual Leadership: Leading children in worship, teaching, and discipleship.
• Ministry Support: Assisting with Sunday programming and special events.
• Personal Growth: Developing a deeper relationship with God through intentional spiritual disciplines and mentorship.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
The Children’s Ministry Summer Intern will help develop a kid’s worship ministry, assist with and occasionally teach Sunday School, and actively support weekly programming. They will help plan and lead Vacation Bible School (VBS) and help with special events, while also investing in personal spiritual growth through daily Bible reading, journaling, and regular mentorship with the Lead Pastor. The intern will participate in church life by attending services, engaging with leadership, and collaborating with the ministry team.
1. Sunday School
• Assist the Lead Pastor and other CM volunteers with developing a Worship Ministry for the children.
• Teach children’s lessons once per month.
• Volunteer and/or shadow the Sunday School teacher twice per month.
2. Family and Special Events
• Help plan, organize, and co-lead the church’s Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2-day event with the Lead Pastor and other CM volunteers.
• Assist with additional children’s or family ministry events as needed throughout the summer.
3. Discipleship and Admin
• Meet with the Lead Pastor once per week for mentorship, encouragement, and accountability.
• Attend Elders Meetings once per month to gain insight into church leadership and decision-making.
• Maintain a regular journal to reflect on ministry experiences and personal spiritual growth.
• Spend at least one hour per day reading the Bible as part of personal devotion and preparation.
4. Church Participation
• Attend the main church service once per month to remain connected to the wider church body.
• Actively participate as a member of the church staff and ministry team.
• Collaborate with Children’s Ministry leaders and volunteers.
• Demonstrate a teachable spirit, reliability, and a heart for serving children and families.
• Engage in the life of the church beyond assigned duties, building relationships with the congregation.
